Walmart's Stuff the Truck Event: Volunteer Needs at MCM

Friday, April 27th 9:00-AM - 9:00 PM

Walmart recently announced its Fighting Hunger Together Campaign to make sure foodbanks have enough supplies to last during the spring and summer months. The foodbanks come to the aid of the 49 million Americans who suffer from food insecurity and struggle to get food on the table. General Mills, ConAgra Foods, Kraft Foods, and Kellogg Company are joining this hunger relief effort.

Throughout the month of April, Walmart is encouraging Mooresville Walmart customers to visit their local Walmart to purchase select products that will generate meals to feed hungry families in this community. The grand finale for the Fighting Hunger Together Campaign will be a Stuff the Truck Event on Friday, April 27th. Their goal is to provide 10,000 non-perishable food items to the Mooresville Christian Mission.

Mooresville Christian Mission is in need of volunteers to help receive donations for this event. The collection will begin at 9:00 AM at the Mooresville Walmart parking lot and will conclude at 9:00 PM.

Date: Friday, April 27th 9:00-AM - 9:00 PM

Haiti Mission trip serving opportunities

UR Missions a Cove partner in missions has a medical mission trip planed to Haiti May 4th – May 12th. They are looking for volunteers to go and collecting basic hygiene items to hand out while there.

The team of nursing students, 1 pharmacist, and 1 RN will conduct medical clinics, sports outreach events, and daily Bible activities. They will be working in the epicenter of the earthquake, and the small farming village which has no medical clinic and one small church. UR Missions is working with Hearts United With Haiti to help bring light to this village. Some of the projects they will be helping with is: bringing CLEAN water-looking for a men's team to help with construction of well, building a useable toilet, helping to facilitate a feeding program (one of the church members just lost their small daughter b/c of malnutrition), helping to get the kids sponsored in the small Christian school (they started out with 25 students and now have 250!), and sharing the love of Christ through faith, hope, and love!

They are also working with the local pastor to educate and equip the basic necessities such as growing their own food and learning life skills in which they can support their own families.

If you would like to go and serve alongside the team or donate hygiene items such as: deodorant, wash cloths, bar soap and quart size baggies please contact: Kimberly Harrell, urmissions@gmail.com.
